The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust has accepted the resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra amidst an investigation into alleged misappropriation of donations intended for the Ram Mandir. The trust’s treasurer, Govind Giri, indicated that the resignations aligned with the trust’s constitution, while also recognizing Rai’s significant contributions since the trust’s formation. This development follows allegations of irregularities in the management of temple donations.
Senior trust member Pankaj Jaiswal expressed distress over the situation, labeling it both painful and shameful, and emphasized that any misuse of funds contributed by devotees is unacceptable. In response to the resignations, Krisha Mohan has been appointed as the interim General Secretary, with Govind Giri continuing in his role as treasurer. The trust is scheduled to convene again on July 22, by which time a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is expected to present its final report on the matter.
The ongoing investigation has already led to the arrest of eight individuals connected to the alleged theft of donations. Giri assured that the trust would not shield any wrongdoers, stating clearly that all individuals found guilty must face legal consequences, regardless of their position within the organization.
As the investigation progresses, the trust remains committed to upholding transparency and accountability, ensuring that the sanctity of devotee contributions is preserved. The outcome of the SIT’s report will likely play a crucial role in determining the next steps for the trust as it seeks to restore confidence among its supporters and stakeholders.
